How could I be so blind?
I should have seen the signs - fingers lined with papercuts a bit too deep to hide.
A disappointing sight - I wake to find that I'm trapped inside a cage.
I swore so many times I'd broken free.

These walls made of blades, keeping me in.
I still see my face, reflected.
I got myself into this familiar prison.
Once I find the key to my escape, I'm never coming back.

It happens all the time.
It's avoidance in disguise - tarted up like freedom laced with fear, regret and lies.
It's always the same line: "I swear, I promise...", god I just wish I didn't have to work so fucking hard just to feel normal.
